Manna One is a little off the beaten path, which works in your favor because it’s not as mobbed as some of the bakeries just a few blocks away. Located where Chinatown, Two Bridges, and the LES meet, this takeout-only spot has a bright “We sell pork buns” sign right by the door. Their baked version has the perfect balance of sweet and savory, and the filling, which contains a good amount of slightly crunchy onions, is meatier than most. As for the bread, it’s reminiscent of brioche (still very soft, but holds its structure more than squishier buns). This place also has a few sandwiches and a full selection of other types of buns and pastries, and you’ll see people pop in just to order one of their many coffee and tea drinks.
