Five children are among seven people killed in horror crash in Illinois where van hit another car head-on and both burst into flames

• The crash occurred around 2sm on Interstate 90 and Anthony Road, 50 miles from Chicago
• State police said the van was traveling in the wrong direction on the highway
• A woman in the other car also died after both cars burst into flames following the crash
• One survivor was airlifted to a local hospital but her condition remains unknown
• Police were forced to temporarily shut down lanes on both sides of the highway
