The Illinois gunman who attacked the July 4 parade ‘sized up’ the nearby synagogue earlier this year, it has been claimed, and was so concerning that the volunteer security director decided to search his bag.
Robert Crimo, 21, killed seven people on Monday, firing at them from the rooftop of a store in Highland Park, an affluent, heavily Jewish area 30 miles north of Chicago.
He was arrested on Monday and has been charged with murder. No motive has yet been given, but Crimo’s social media presence – he was an aspiring rapper – show a man obsessed with violence, who reveled in sharing gory footage online.
