Australia weather: Record-breaking rain to hit Northern Territory as Sydney, Melbourne freeze

Aussies are in for an uncomfortable week as record-breaking rain partners up with freezing temperatures with some areas set to shiver through -6C temperatures.

Residents in NSW, Victoria, ACT and Tasmania can expect the current morning chill to hang around heading into next week, alongside a record-breaking rain event.

Large parts of the four southern states were subject to ‘feels like’ temperatures of -3C on Wednesday morning with Victoria and NSW’s alpine regions plummeting to ‘feels like’ temperatures below -6C.

South Australians, South NT residents and central West Australians will also feel the cold on Thursday morning with large areas to suffer through ‘feels like’ temperatures ranging from 0C to -3C.
