Glamorous star of Moulin Rouge! The Musical shares what playing Satine is like

The lead role in Moulin Rouge! The Musical has opened up about auditioning for the coveted performance while 37 weeks pregnant and what a typical day in her life looks like.

Alinta Chidzey plays Satine, otherwise known as the ‘Sparkling Diamond’, in the renowned musical theatre production about love and loss, which is currently on stage in Sydney after a successful debut in Melbourne.

The 38-year-old has been working in show business for 20 years, with her first show having been Mamma Mia! The Musical as an ensemble member at just 18.

Living in Elwood, Melbourne, usually when she’s not on stage at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre, Alinta calls Satine her ‘role of a lifetime’ alongside actors Des Flanagan and Simon Burke.
