Juul e-cigarettes are to be pulled from shelves across the United States amid a Biden administration-led crackdown on the industry.
The Food and Drug Administration said today it was issuing a marketing denial order for the company, preventing it from selling and distributing products in the United States.
This does not restrict individual ownership or use of any JUUL devices.
In a release Thursday, the FDA said JUUL had failed to provide ‘sufficient evidence’ that its e-cigarettes were ‘appropriate’ for protecting public health.
It added that some of JUUL’s own findings had ‘raised concerns’ because of ‘conflicting’ data, particularly around potentially harmful chemicals leaking from its devices.
