Uber to re-launch their shared ride service in some major U.S. cities

Uber will restart lower-cost shared rides in major cities, including NYC, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Chicago, after suspending them at the start of the pandemic

  • Uber halted shared rides amid the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020
  • The ride-share option is now available in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Phoenix, San Diego, Portland, Indianapolis, and Pittsburgh
  • The service that allows strangers and co-workers to ride together will be available in more cities this summer  
  • Uber promises customers special discount rates for choosing the ride-share option
