Casey White is not ‘smart enough’ to plot prison escape and Vicky was ‘mastermind’, sheriff reveals

Vicky White was the ‘mastermind’ behind her jailbreak with prisoner Casey White who was ‘not smart enough’ to plot their escape, a sheriff has claimed.

Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton said Vicky, who walked out on her life and 17 years of unblemished service as a prison officer with her inmate lover, was ‘in a position’ to arrange their daring bid for freedom.

Vicky, 56, was found dead on Monday nearly 300 miles away from the prison with a gunshot wound to the head after an 11-day manhunt in Alabama. 

Casey, 38, who is awaiting a capital murder trial among a litany of charges, surrendered and is now back behind bars.

Singleton told CNN: ‘It’s been an emotional rollercoaster for our employees.
