New York City Mayor Eric Adams continued his attempt to clear out homeless encampments from the city Wednesday, as crime continues to spiral throughout the five boroughs.
The NYPD brought seven vehicles to line a block to get rid of just one homeless tent from the sidewalk in the East Village in Manhattan as homeless outreach workers got to work.
A couple named James and Nico were living in the tent and told reporters they were offered a hotel room in exchange.
However, the pair said that the only reason they were given that offer was due to the presence of media and activists.
Adams – who spent Tuesday hobnobbing and throwing out the first pitch at a New York Yankees game – has instructed his administration to push to clear the city of homeless encampments.
