Inflation in the US has fallen slightly from the four-decade high it reached in March, marking a sign of relief for consumers and giving President Joe Biden breathing room on the hot-button issue.

The Labor Department said on Wednesday that the consumer price index increased 0.3 percent in April from the month before, for a 8.3 percent gain from a year ago.
