A diver who died off the Australian coast attempting to smuggle $20 million worth of cocaine into the country had travelled from South America to take part in the elaborate drug importation.
And NSW Police have also revealed the cartel the man was part of could have already smuggled hundreds of kilograms into Australia before the diver ran in trouble and was left to die by the cruel syndicate.
The man’s body was found floating near the Port of Newcastle on Monday, with police suspecting he was trying to bring ashore up to 50 kilograms of cocaine.
The man, who was dressed in tactical diving gear, was recovered alongside numerous packets of the illicit drug which had been tightly wrapped in plastic.
