Katherine Deves has backtracked from her previous apologies for describing transgender children as ‘surgically mutilated and sterilised’.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s ‘captain’s pick’ for Sydney’s Northern Beaches seat of Warringah told Sky News on Monday the descriptions she had used were the ‘correct terminology’.
She apologised last month for her ‘hurtful and divisive’ language after the Federal election campaign was roiled by her series of incendiary tweets.
‘It was not the appropriate platform to do so, I have removed myself from that platform and I will not be going back there again,’ she previously said.
But when Sky News host Chris Kenny asked what she had been apologising for, she said for ‘how people might have perceived it’.
