Launceston crowned best town in Australia at Wotif Aussie Town of the Year awards

The top ten Australian towns of 2022 have been named at the Wotif Aussie Town of the Year awards, with Launceston in Tasmania taking out the top spot.

Falling in second place was Caloundra in Queensland for its stunning coastal scenery, followed by Tamworth in New South Wales, 418km north of Sydney.

The awards, now in their fifth year, are determined by the site’s data index that looks at the accommodation affordability, quality, and traveller satisfaction of different towns. 

They are designed to highlight the best of Australia’s diverse destinations and to encourage Aussies to explore their own backyard. 

In total three Victorian towns made it into the top ten listing, two from Queensland, two from New South Wales, and one each from South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania.
