Biden sanctions two Russian banks, will target ‘elites’ in response to Putin’s military moves

Joe Biden announced on Tuesday sanctions on Russia after President Vladimir Putin moved forces toward a full-scale invasion of Ukraine following recognition of eastern regions of the country are now ‘independent republics.’ 

‘Yesterday Vladimir Putin recognized two regions of Ukraine as independent states and he bizarrely asserted that these regions are no longer part of Ukraine and they are sovereign territory,’ Biden said during his remarks Tuesday afternoon.

‘To put it simply, Russia just announced that it is carving out a big chunk of Ukraine.’

‘Who in the Lord’s name does Putin think gives him the right to declare new so-called ‘countries’ on territory that belonged to his neighbors?’ the president lamented.
