About $700,000 worth of magic mushrooms have allegedly been discovered in a man’s secret garden drug lab.

The home in Greystanes, western Sydney, was raided on February 3 following a month-long investigation into the manufacturing of illicit drugs in the area.

Earlier that day, a 26-year-old man driving a Nissan X-Trail was stopped by police in West Pennant Hills, north-west Sydney, as part of the investigation.

Officers allegedly found magic mushrooms in the car, along with cocaine, $50,000 in cash and two knives. 

Detectives subsequently got a warrant to search the Greystanes home and spent three days combing through the backyard to find the lab with 46kg of magic mushrooms, known as psilocybin. 

Images show officers in protective suits entering the seemingly ordinary shed to discover dozens of plastic crates with the psychedelic drugs growing inside.

The man was arrested and charged with drug supply and manufacturing a large commercial quantity of a prohibited drug on Monday.

He was refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday.
