Barcelona fans are looking for all the fine margins they can get ahead of their side’s clash with Paris Saint-Germain after setting off fireworks outside the French champions’ hotel.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team are in town to face off against Barca as the Champions League resumes on Tuesday night with the first batch of last-16 first leg clashes.

PSG visit Barcelona in one of the most highly anticipated fixtures among the draw, but Barca fans are keen to make their stay in the Catalan region as uncomfortable as possible.

Any hopes of an early night among the PSG contingent were disturbed after a round of fireworks were let off by locals who were keen to disturb any potential sleep plans for the visitors.

In video footage captured by El Chiringuito, loud whistling fireworks can be seen before explosions and crackles rippled through the night sky in Barcelona.

It comes ahead of a clash that has started to see a rivalry slowly build between the teams in recent years due to on-pitch drama and off the field transfer links.

The fixture first came to prominence during an extraordinary Champions League encounter in 2017 that saw Barca come back from 4-0 down in the first leg clash as the same stage, to win 6-1 in the return fixture – scoring three times within the final two minutes in the process.

That was followed by a world record transfer later in the summer that saw the French side trigger Neymar’s £200million release clause at Barcelona.

Since then the Brazilian star has constantly been linked with a move back to the Nou Camp, while in the last year Barca’s key forward Lionel Messi has been touted to head in the other direction.

Ronald Koeman’s side head into the clash in reasonably good form having won six of their last seven in all competitions, although Pochettino has made an excellent start as PSG boss, winning eight of his 10 matches and losing just once.
